Late Season Hunts

About Late Season Hunts

Here at Ohio Trophy Whitetail Outfitters, one of our favorite ways to hunt Is to hunt the afternoons over large food plots or baited areas in late December and all of January. Standing beans, corn, oats, and turnips are our go-to food plots to hunt mature deer. We also spread a mixture of corn and beans over3 a 1–2-acre area deep in the timber in about a dozen locations; this is extremely effective on mature deer that are hesitant to come out in the open during daylight. These hunts occur from bale blinds, tower blinds, gully blinds, or regular deer stands. If it’s cold, we have buddy heaters if needed. If the temperatures cooperate, these hunts can have many deer come in and can be very entertaining. A late-season archery hunt here at OTWO is a serious but relaxing way to hunt that many don’t take advantage of. We generally take 2 to 4 hunters a week, giving plenty of living space.
